Safety Rules & Regulations

The following are the Rules and Regulations governing tournament safety:

Responsibility: One (1) team member from each team is responsible for making sure the rules are being followed.

Ball and Shoes (provided by venue): Wear bowling shoes while bowling. Have the correct fit for the bowling ball and shoes. See a staff member for help selecting or changing a ball or shoes. Clean the soles of shoes before bowling, after going to the rest room or anywhere else in or outside of the center. Moisture, humidity or a slippery or sticky substance on the sole of a shoe can cause a fall and serious injury.

Foul Line: Lanes are treated with oil and are extremely slippery. Crossing the foul line can cause a fall and serious injury. After crossing the foul line, clean the soles of shoes before bowling. Ask a staff member for help.

Equipment/Ball Return: Mechanical equipment is dangerous and can cause injuries. If a ball or pin is stuck or the bumper must be raised or lowered, ask a staff member for assistance. The ball return has moving parts. Serious injury can result from reaching into the ball return opening. Keep hands away from the ball return and ball return tray.

General Rules of Play

The following are the Rules and Regulations governing tournament general rules of play:

A game of bowling consists of ten frames. In each frame, the bowler will have two chances to knock down as many pins as possible with their bowling ball, except if they get a strike on their first ball.

In games with more than one bowler, as is common, every bowler will take their frame in a predetermined order before the next frame begins.

If a bowler is able to knock down all ten pins with their first ball, he is awarded a strike. If the bowler is able to knock down all 10 pins with the two balls of a frame, it is known as a spare.  “No Tap” tournament, if a bowler is able to knock down 9 pins with their first ball of a frame, that will also be awarded a strike.

Bonus points are awarded for both of these, depending on what is scored in the next 2 balls (for a strike) or 1 ball (for a spare).

Scoring Rules and Regulations

The following are the Rules and Regulations governing tournament scoring at shooter stations:

One point is scored for each pin that is knocked over. Spare marked as slash “/” and strikes are marked as “X”. All pins must be knocked down in order to get a spare or a strike.  “No Tap” 9 pins knocked down on first ball of frame counts as strike.

Two (2) games will be scored for the tournament. Upon completion of both games, scores will be printed and summed. All five (5) player scores of a team will be added together for one total team score, and team scores put in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ranked order by highest score. The number of “No Tap” strikes and spares will be counted for each player on all teams, and the player with the highest number of strikes and spares will win the individual Most Strikes and Spares award.

Ties will be resolved immediately with a frame by frame sudden death bowl-off. If teams or Most Strikes and Spares individuals are still tied after the first frame, they will bowl another and so on.

Awards: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams will be awarded team plaque trophies (each participant) and team Amazon Gift Cards totaling $200 ($40ea X 5), $150 ($30ea X 5) and $100 ($20ea X 5) respectively. The Most Strikes and Spares winner will receive a plaque trophy and a cash prize of the greater of 25% of Most Strikes and Spares funds collected or $100.

Minimum Teams for the Fundraiser: If a sufficient number of teams are not registered for the fundraiser by July 15th, the event will be cancelled and all fees refunded.
